The second day is Nov.18.  It is stated on the syllabus:

Nov.11 is a holiday.

If you come to the second day of the tournament, we can add you in late.  We can't give you back credit for missing the first day, but based on your grade so far, recouping a few points for the second day should get you to a passing grade.

Ok I pretty much figured out the remaining areas of improvement for project 3 but won't be home to implement it this weekend.  Just want to make sure you guys know what to do though.

Basically, a lot of the code can be reduced by using more intrinsics.  For example, instead of using Haotian's "duplicate four elements in the array", you can use an intrinsic that creates an __m128 with 4 of the same float variables.  Doing that increases performance by 1 Gflop.

Lots of other areas you can replace w/ intrinsics too - just dig through the intrinsics manual and see what might come useful.  And yes, there is an add+multiply intrinsic so look into that.

Good luck - hope we don't need to use that extra slip day.

There's a 3-day weekend coming up on Nov.11.  I doubt anyone is free Thanksgiving with family and all, so we should go on Veteran's Day instead (unless you do something special that day ).

It'll be at Boreal (www.borealski.com) as usual.  Your first time will cost $70 but includes rentals and lessons as well.  Then the 2nd and 3rd time you go will only cost $30 for the same deal (and more advanced lessons).

We'll leave early at 7am and head home about 5pm; bring food if you don't want to buy.  If you or your parent can drive, please ask.  It's a regular highway with multiple lanes - no narrow roads, not too far into the winter so you shouldn't need chains.

Time and Place:
6am = Be ready to be picked up.  Leave Berkeley.
8am = Arrive in Sacramento, leave for Boreal.
10am = Arrive at Boreal.
5pm = Leave Boreal to head home.
6pm = Dinner in Sacramento.
7pm = Leave Sacramento for Berkeley.
9pm = Back in Berkeley.

Bringing back some of the summer time activities here... On Sunday Oct.30, we'll be meeting up for tennis in the evening, followed by dinner and a movie later that night.

6pm = Tennis, Hearst Courts.
7pm = Dinner from Asian Ghetto, movie at 2525 Durant Ave.

There are a few movies we can select from.  They'll be in a similar genre to "Donnie Darko".

One day shouldn't impact your grade too much, so don't worry about it.

23rd is good for me.
102  The Meld / EVERYTHING / Re: Travel on: October 16, 2011, 11:43:07 AM
I am relatively free Thursday if we want to do like a 2-3 hr thing (4-pm-7pm).
Sundays I am free too.  Jerry and Perlin have a midterm coming up next week, but a couple hours should be ok I think (just not a full-day trip like Six Flags).
Weekend before Halloween I expect most to be going home though.

A significant portion of the Canasta Club members somehow find themselves majoring in CS, whether it be their original major or one they eventually switch into.  In Fall 2011, over 6 members ended up taking the same CS61C class.  4 of them lived in the same building.  Suggest meet up times to study or do homework here.
